don't exchange money @ global exchange EZE
January 6th, 2009with no clue about current exchange rates i changed 100 US$ to Argentinian Pesos. What I got was 264 Pesos ... 20 meters away (right beside the customs lines) is a booth of the Argentinian National Bank where I could have gotten 300 Pesos for 100US$. :mad:

I tell this to everyone i know.
However, the bank has usually a 15-20 min queue, so if you are in a hurry...you may pay with your credit card and change somewhere else.
I've never had more than a 5 minute wait, when using the window of the bank that is still inside the customs area. Before you go out the door, it's on your right.

I just returned from EZE .
On JAN. 31 I exchanged money at EZE.
When you come out from Customs/Immigration , turn right.
The first " cambio " booth was giving 2.65 peso for us$1 . Continue for
another 20 meters and you get to the booth of " Bank de la nacion " Where
I received 3.09 peso for us$1 .

Ive just finished a letter to the Editor of La Nacion newspaper here in Buenos Aires, I hope they publish it. These Global Exchange bozos are real crooks.

Chris-- Im sorry for your experience. As an Argentine, Im ashamed that the authorities allow these crooks to have the best possible location at EZE airport and are allowed to steal from visitors in this shameful manner. Its outright highway robbery.
I will speak to the moderators of this forum and see about posting a sticky thread with a warning so that more FTers are informed about this issue and hopefully no one else suffers this.

no problem. i calmed down quite quickly as it was not such a big loss, but feeling so ripped off at this very place was the worst part ... don't know if the two mexicans in front of me felt robbed much more as they were exchanging thousands of US$ @ global exchange...
the rest of my 2 day stay in BA was amazing (and BTW much too short)... hope to return soon ...
